  • Did you know that … 🐦 White-bellied Cuckoo-shrikes (Coracina papuensis) live in families of three to five in open eucalyptus forest and woodland around the north and east of Australia. They forage in tree canopies and under-story shrubs flying between branches and diving onto food - insects and fruit.

  • Iron sculptures of insects such as this praying mantis can be seen on the Budaadji Rainforest Canopy Walk at the Barron Falls. Budaadji is the giant carpet snake, which in local Djabugay stories created the Barron Gorge and River #Kuranda

  • Have you encountered a cassowary before?

It’s the second largest, and most dangerous bird on the planet - it attacks with a swift karate-kick from its powerful legs and claws, but is nonetheless endangered these days so make sure to drive carefully as these birds often hang out on the side of road if there’s a tree with fruit they like.
